Procam International, in association with Glaxo Smithkline and the Hyderabad Cricket Association, is organising the Under-17 Inter-Schools Tournament for the Boost Cricket Cup, from 5th to 12th November, at various grounds in the city. 16 teams will play the knockout rounds, divided into two groups, as under:
Group A
Wesley Junior College (Blue), St Mary's Junior College (Secunderabad), St John's Church Junior College, Bhavan's Aurobindo Junior College (A), Boys' Town High School, Little Flower Junior College (B), St Peter's High School, and St Mary's Junior College (A) Himayathnagar
Group B
Bhavan's Aurobindo Junior College (B), St Peter's High School, Hyderabad Public School (Begumpet), Loyola Academy Junior College, Jubilee Hills Public School, CAL Public School, St Faiz Memorial School, and St. Andrew's High School
The matches will all be held at the Parade grounds, Bhavan's school grounds in Sainikpuri, Loyola grounds in Old Alwal, and CAL PS grounds. The semifinals will be held on 8th and 10th November, and the final at the Gymkhana grounds on 12th November. The winning team will represent Hyderabad in the 8-team Inter-City Challenge.
The Boost Cup is being held in eight cities of the country, and the winning team from each city will battle it out at the Inter-City Challenge to be held at Mumbai during next month. The tournament kicked off with the Bangalore leg and was followed by those of the Chennai and Tamil Nadu districts, Punjab, Delhi and Baroda, and has now moved to Hyderabad. The last leg will be in Mumbai.
In addition to the trophies, the winning team at the Inter-City Challenge will get a cash prize of Rs. 18,000, and the runner-up team will be richer by Rs. 12,000. Following the Inter-City Challenge, 20 players will be picked up for a 7-day coaching camp that will be conducted by former cricketers. Out of these 20, 5 of the best trainees will be declared 'Ratnas' and awarded scholarships.
The league matches of this tournament were held from 15th to 27th October, in which a total of 34 teams had participated.
