The European Union Delegation in India, together with the Alliance Française of Hyderabad, Le Pavillon de France à Auroville, and the Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, is organising an exhibition of paintings and posters on the European Union, titled Uniting People – Jean Monnet, from 2nd to 12th November, at the Goethe-Zentrum's premises in Hermitage Complex, Hillfort Road, Opp. Legislative Assembly.
The exhibition is being organised on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Traité de Rome. It is brought to you by Le Pavillon de France in Auroville, and depicts the life and actions of Jean Monnet. It is an opportunity to present to the Indian public a great French figure, whose determination and enlightened action led two mortal enemies like Germany and France to start afresh a relationship based on collaboration and integration – and that too, hardly 5 years after the end of the second World War. Monnet was not alone in this initiative, yet there is no doubt that his role behind the scene was absolutely crucial.
It is also an opportunity to describe to the Indian public the innovative concept and reality of that unprecedented adventure called Europe. Young Aurovilian artist Aron Nicolet was commissioned to create a painting for each of the panels.
The entry is free for everybody. Please contact Goethe-Zentrum at 6652-6443/2324-1791 for further details.
