We, in this age, know very little about our freedom struggle. And according to Rajagopala Rao, they, in those days too, knew as little.
Chaitanya Arts is hosting the book release of 'Vandemataram Ninchi Quit India: Andhralo Casulu - Shikshalu' by C V Rajagopala Rao, at Ravindra Bharati on 19th August. The function will start at 6:30pm.
The evening will feature a recital of patriotic songs by the group Ganalahari led by Vinod Babu, followed by the book launch. The chief guests for the occasion are Dr. K Rosiah (Finance Minister) and Nuthi Ram Mohan Rao (Justice, High Court, AP).
The guests of honor are Mandali Buddha Prasad (ex minister), KRBHN Chakravarthy (Director, Employment & Training), Padma Bhushan KI Vara Prasad Reddy (MD, Shanta Bio Technology Ltd.), Ashwini Subba Rao (Chairman, Ashwini Group) and Dr. Pala Krishnamurthy. The book will be introduced by N Taraka Rama Rao (Theatre Artist).
Vandemataram Ninchi Quit India: Andhralo Casulu-Shikshalu is the 4th book in the pre-independence series written by Rajagopala Rao. The aim of the series is to introduce to the audience some unknown episodes of the pre-independence era. His 3 earlier books - Gowtami Satyagraha, Ashraman-Seetanagaram, Swathantra Poratam-Journalist Yodulu Shikshalu - described the hardships and struggles faced by journalists and some freedom fighters, in the period.
Rajagopala Rao's works have been well-received. His book Andhra Patrika Charitra was awarded the Uttama Grandham by Andhra Vishwa Vidyalayam in 2006. His other awards are the Uttama Grandha Rachayita award by Andhra Vishwa Vidyalayam, Dr. Ramineni Foundation Vishesha Puraskaram and Kendra Prabuthva Samskrutika Shaka Senior Fellowship award.
His recent writings - Tholi Rajakiya Shiksha (1907), Osmania Vidyardula Vande Mataram Udhyamam, Ongolu Bomb Case (1943) - revealed many new and unknown facts. Rajagopala Rao was a journalist in Praja Patrika (started by Prakasham Panthulu) in 1953, and then moved to Andhra Patrika, where he worked for 35 years.
