The mela is on from 11am to 9pm.
The Nursery Mela is a platform for Nurserymen, Horticulturists, Home Gardeners and Farmers, to interact and learn about latest horticultural trends and innovations. The mela provides a platform on a grand scale and facilitates better revenue generation for all its participants.
The basic objectives of the mela are to create marketing avenues to the Nurserymen and publicise the availability of plant material; to bring Nurserymen to a common platform to exchange their ideas and display and sell their plant material to Farmers, Horticulturists and Home Gardeners; to popularize different species of ornamental and fruit plants produced by different Nurserymen suitable for Andhra Pradesh; to facilitate Farmers, Horticulturists and Home Gardeners to procure required plant material at one place; to inculcate interest in Ornamental Gardening and to spread knowledge of gardening, garden accessories, materials, green house technology and irrigation systems among people.
The department is promoting holistic growth of the horticulture sector through area-based strategies, enhancing horticulture production and assuring nutritional security and income support to farmers and others. It aims at establishing synergy among multiple on-going and planned programmes for horticulture development, to promote, develop and disseminate technologies, and also to generate employment for skilled and unskilled persons. In fact, horticulture has been identified as one of the priority sectors that can steer our State's economy in the near future.
