The Puppet Resource Center, Literacy House, Andhra Mahila Sabha, is organizing a national convention on puppetry, showcasing puppetry in education.
The three-day program will start on the 15th of April, with an inauguration session and talks on Traditions In Puppetry by Anurupa Roy, Director, Katkatha Puppet Theater, New Delhi, and on Practicing Puppetry In Education by V C Harish and Nori Ratnamala, Nori Arts and Puppet Theater. Krishna Murthy will perform A Shadow Play With Hands, while Mime Madhu will do Puppet Mime.
On the 16th, there will be a program titled Puppet Carnival, with teams from Little Theater, Koyya Bommalata, Rajastani Katputhli Puppet Show, Mimicry Srinivas and Talking Doll participating.
This will be followed on the same day by a discussion on 'Puppetry In Schools, Experiences Of Practicing Teachers', by Anil Datta, Rishy Valley School, Mandanpall, and Kalavathi, Sri Arabindo School. Srinivas, Nrityanjali and Turuga Rani, Bala Jagruti, among others, will then participate in the discussion on 'Puppetry In Awareness Programs'.
The evening will have a lecture-cum-demo on 'From Scripting To Filming', by Shuba Saxena, Puppet Officer, Puppetry Cell, SNA, New Delhi, and Sangamitra Mallik, senior writer for children. This will be followed by a performance of 'Tolu Bommalata', by Kale Tirupati Rao and party.
The 17th will see a 'Workshop For The Mentally Challenged Children' in which children from DDVTRC, NIMH, Hyderabad Special School, THPI, will participate. This will be followed by a report on the workshop, and a valedictory address by Anand Kishore, Director, SCERT.
