Geetha Krishna Saraswatula is presenting her Bharatanatyam arangetram, at Ravindra Bharathi on 27th June. Geetha is a very promising disciple of Guru Geetha Ganesan, having won many accolades and awards.
Tonite, Geetha will start the recital, as is the norm, with a Pushpanjali in Naata ragam and Adhi talam - a paying of floral tributes to her guru, Lord Vinayaka and the audience. This will be followed by Skanda Stuthi & Alarippu in Mohana ragam and Khanda Chapu talam. Skanda Stuthi is the dancer's adoration of Lord Muruga or Kartikeyan, and Alarippu is the relaxation of the body parts through movement of eyes, neck, head, hands, legs and feet, before the presentation of actual recital.
Next to follow is the Varnam in Ragamalika and Adi Talam which is composed by Jayaprada Ramamurthy, Eka Shlokatmaka Bhaghavatam in Ragamalika and Talamalika, a Pattabhiramayya composed Javali in Kapi ragam and Adi talam, Lalgudi Jayaraman's Thillana in Ragesri ragam and Adi talam, and finally the Shiva Stuthi.
The support is provided by Geetha Ganesan for the choreography, vocal and nattuvangam, K Rajagopalacharya on the mridangam, Saikumar on the violin and R P Raju with the flute.
Geetha Krishna started her pursuit of music with Carnatic vocal at a tender age of 5. But she gradually envinced keen interest towards dance six years ago, and so came under the able guidance of Abhinaya Kala Rathna Guru Geetha Ganesan at Uttaraa, a premier institute of performing arts, where her remarkable talent was further refined under the institute's directors Geetha Ganesan and Jayaprada Ramaswamy.
Geetha has been the protagonist of several dance dramas of the institute, like Sri Rama in Sita Kalyanam, Sita in Shatasloki Ramayana, Kali in Devi Mahatyam, Rukmini in Rukmini Kalyanam and Krishna in Bala Mukundam. She has performed at all the past 6 anniversaries of her institute, and is the first recipient of the CCRT scholarship from the institute in the Bharatanatyam category.
Geetha has been part of several group performances of her institute at NISIET, Kalasagaram, SICA, the Dept. of Tourism And Culture, Shilparamam, and the Brahmotsavams in Yadagirigutta. She was also part of the troupe that toured Sri Lanka in May/June 2006.
A distinction holder in Madhyama-I of the Akhila Bharatiya Gandharv Mahavidyalaya, Geetha is also gifted with a sonorous voice. Initially under Y Bala Bharathi Devi, she is now under Gana Kokila Prema Ramamurthy. She has won several prizes in vocal too.
An alumnae of St. Ann's Tarnaka, she will be pursuing her Class XI from the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Uppal. With great potential as a dancer and also as a vocalist, Geetha Krishna is expected to scale greater heights in the world of arts, like her guru Geetha Ganesan.
