And if you are a pharma manufacturer or exporter seeking to network, remember to load up your wallet with your visiting cards these 3 days.
PHARMEXCIL (Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council), set up by the Ministry Of Commerce, Government of India, is organising the India-LAC Pharma Conference, from 27th to 29 June, at the Convention Centre of the Hotel Hyderabad Marriott. About 53 foreign delegates from different parts of the world will be participating in the conference, and will interact with the prospective Indian exporters. There will also be an exhibition of pharmaceutical products manufactured by the Indian companies.
The total imports of drugs and pharmaceuticals to the LAC region (24 countries) is estimated to be about $9.5 bn, and Indian exports contribute only 1.4%. There exists a huge opportunity to increase the share by promoting the country's quality products at most competitive prices. This conference provides a platform for Indian pharma manufacturers and exporters to interact directly with the foreign delegates, most of whom are from the industry, with some more being from drug regulatory agencies.
The foreign delegates include participants from countries like Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela. The 3-day program will have business meetings, delegate lectures and direct interactions.
The exhibition and the conference will be inaugurated by the chief guest Pavan Kumar Bansal, Minister of State for Finance. The other guests who will deliver the inaugural address are Rajeev Kher, IAS, Jt. Secretary, Department of Commerce, Govt. of India; D B Mody, Chairman, Pharmexcil; G S Sandhu, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government of India; Shiv Basant, IAS, Jt. Secretary, Dept of AYUSH, Ministry of Health, Government of India; Sam Bob, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Govt. of A.P; Dr. M Venkateswarlu, Drugs Controller General, Ministry of Health, Govt. of India; Nelson Proenca, State Secretary, Department of Development and International Affairs, Govt. of Brazil; and Dr. P V Appaji, Executive Director, Pharmexcil.
