The Hyderabad Film Club, in collaboration with the Hyderabad Korean Residents Association, and the Korean Consulate (Mumbai), is organizing a Korean film festival from 26th to 28th December, at the Prasad Labs Preview Theatre.
'Beyond The Years', a film based on the book, The Wanderer Of SeonhakTong, by Yi Chung-jun, will be screened at 5pm. Released in 2007, the film is 106 minutes long, and stars Oh Jung-hae, Cho Jae-hyun and Im Jin-taek.
'Beyond The Years' is a sequel to 'Sopyonje', which means Korean Traditional Narrative Song. In 'Sopyonje', Tong Ho and Song Hwa are two children adopted by Yu Bong, a nomadic singer. They grow up as siblings, but Tong Ho falls in love with Song Hwa, and is deeply saddened by the fact that he has to call her sister, and has to constantly fight Yu Bong's obsession to make her a great singer. Eventually, Tong Ho leaves home, and with his unflinching affection for Song Hwa, he keeps refining his drumming skills in order to match with her singing.
In Beyond the Years, Tong Ho returns to the Jeolla (Cholla) province as a buyer of medicinal herbs and goes around inquiring about Song Hwa. Tong-ho follows her tracks finds her, but things don't go as well as expected.
The screenplay of the film was written by Im Kwon-taek and Yi Chung-jun, the film was edited by Park Soon-duk, and the music was composed by Ryo Kunihiko.
