Arangetram By V Shruthi: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR ARANGETRAM BY V SHRUTHI

V Shruthi, an 8th standard student studying in Pallavi Model School, Hasmathpet, is performing her Arangetram, on 22nd May, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. She will be starting the evening with a traditional Pushpanjali & Alarippu, followed by Jatiswaram in Saveri ragam, Senthil Maanagar Vazhum (Varnam) in Aboghi ragam, Punnai Mara Nizhalil (Padham) in Ananda Valli, Deera Sameere (Jayadeva Ashtapadi) in Maand ragam, Tillana in Rageshri, a folklore item in Kuravanji ragam, and finally the Mangalam.

The orchestra for the recital will be provided by Guru Rajeswari Sainath and Sangeethakala with the nattuvangam and vocal respectively, Srinivas on the mridangam, Chander Rao on the violin, Venkatesh on the flute and Srikanth on the tabla. The make-up will be done by Verma, and the costumes will be supplied by Shanti Tailors, Chennai.

The chief guest for the evening is T N C Rangarajan, former judge, High Courts of Andhra Pradesh & Madras. Manju Gupta, Director, Pallavi Model School, and Rajagopalan, Secretary, Kalasagaram, are the other invited guests.

Sruthi has been pursuing classical dance right from a very early age. She learnt Kuchipudi first under the guidance of Yashoda, who, after seeing the talent and the determination of the child, directed her to Nritya Choodamani Rajeswari Sainath of Sruthilaya Kendra Natarajalaya, in the year 2003.

Sainath noted her potential and has groomed her into a versatile dancer. The kid has participated in several programs organized by Sruthilaya Kendra Natarajalaya. Apart from classical dance, Sruthi is also learning Carnatic music. Plus, she is good at swimming, and plays basketball as a hobby. Her favourite pastimes are philately and book-reading.

Rajeswari Sainath, an internationally renowned Bharatanatyam exponent, is the Director of Sruthilaya Kendra Natarajalaya, which has branches all over the world. A performer par excellence, Sainath is a recipient of various prestigious titles such as Nritya Choodamani, Nritya Kalasagara and Natya Ilavarasi.
