Yuvakalavahini is celebrating Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao's birthday in a special way, by conducting drama competitions all week. Organized by Saripaalli Kondal Rao, the event is on at Ravindra Bharati, from 14th to 17th September, and there will be 2 to 3 plays staged everyday from 5:30pm.
On 14th September, there is a curtain-raiser, for which ANR will be the chief guest. The function starts at 5:30pm.
On 15th September, 3 plays will be performed, from 5:30pm to 9:30pm - Shataghatra Ganam by Arvinda Arts (Guntur), Navvu Neeku Thodu Unte by Abhinaya Arts (Ongole) and Koota Sinyam by J P Theatre (Hyderabad).
Yevaro Okaru by Helapuri Association (Eluru) and a Putradhi Chet by Sri Kala Prakasham (Ongole) will be enacted on 16th September, at 5:30pm and 7pm, respectively.
On the final day of the celebrations, at 2pm, Miryalaguda Samskrutika Kala Kendram is staging Krishna Prakasham, followed by Bommalu Cheppina Bhaja Govindam by Sucharita Arts (Hyderabad), at 5:15pm.
The final day will see the prize distribution ceremony, and prizes will be given away by the chief guests, ANR and Murali Mohan. Winners will receive a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, and runners-up receive Rs. 10,000 each.

The four-day drama festival organised by Yuva Kala Vahini at Ravindra Bharathi from 14th to 17th September in connection with 86th Birthday celebrations of Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao is excellent. Being myself a stage actor, I really enjoyed the four day festival. The histrionic talents exhibited by various artistes have really enthralled the audience. The theatre that has produced great artistes in the past has come to live during the festival. The playlets and the drama have really depicted the various social maladies that are eating away the very social fabric and ruining the very edifice on which the great Indian tradition has been built and the messages that have been sent through each playlet and drama are worth emulating. Kudos to Shri Y. K. Nageswara Rao and his team for their unending and relentless efforts in providing good and meaningful entertainment to theatre lovers. The reception that has been accorded to one and all during the festival is laudable.
