What is common to TV artists, journalists, stage writers, blind boys, municipal
activists, teachers and street boys? Nothing that you can guess, really. How deceitful
can pop quizzes get! Anyway, the answer is that one poor person belonging to each
of these assorted categories receives Rs. 1,116 as cash award each year from the
Aaradhana Cultural Organization as Aaptamitra Paritoshaka Puraskaralu.
Founded in 1995, the Aaradhana Cultural Organization hosts a number of cultural and felicitation functions throughout the year, and at various other places, too, including Guntur, Vijaywada and Vishakatpatnam. G Venkat Reddy, the founder of this organization, set it up to help poor stage artists who are in dire need of money, and strives hard to promote dance, music and theater.
Today, Kondaveeti Jyothirmayi Choudhary, a research scholar and the lady in charge of the Annamayya Kalapeetham, Tirupathi, is being felicitated in honor of her research work done on Saint Annamayya and his sankeertanas. She will present a one-hour recital of Sankeertanas on this occasion. The felicitation to Jyothirmayi will be followed by a cash award of Rs.1,116 to Prudvi Venkateshwara Rao, a senior stage artist and disciple of Eelapati Raghuramaiah.
