On the occasion of the 600th birth anniversary of Saint Annamacharya, the Annamacharya Project of the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams, together with Chaitanya Art Theatres, is presenting a music festival of Annamacharya keertanas, from 1st to 25th January, at Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Liberty X Road.
Today, the 12th day, renowned vocalist I Sweta Prasad will be singing about 16 Annamacharya keertanas. Starting with Namo Narayanaya, she will move on to Narayanathe Namo Namo, Paluku Tenela Talli Pavalinchenu, Chakkini Talliki Changu Bhala, Anganaku Neeve Akhila Samrajyam, Alhanike Thagunu, Shobaname Shobaname, Pidikite Talambralu Pellikoothuru, Yemani Pogadudhume and Navarasumadhi Nalumakshi. She will be accomapnied by I V Renuka Prasad on the mridangam, Sai Kumar on the violin and Pramod Kumar with the flute.
Sweta started her journey into the world of music at the age of 4, receiving her first lessons in music from Ramalaxmi Rangachari, and thereafter from the renowned guru and musician Neti Srirama Sarma for the last 13 years. Impressing teachers and audiences alike, Sweta proved her skills in singing under the able guidance of Dr. Shobaraju, founder president of Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini.
A gold medalist in Annamacharya kritis at national level competitions conducted by the Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini, Sweta has also taken the top position on a number of occasions at music competitions conducted by famous organisations and sabhas.
Sweta has traveled extensively all over India, and has also performed in USA and Bangladesh, winning the appreciation of the audiences wherever she has performed. She has also sung as a playback singer for TV serials and movies, and has several music & dance cassettes to her credit.
Apart from traditional kutcheris, Sweta also lends her rich voice to the world of dance, providing vocal support to renowned dancers like Dr. Shobha Naidu, Swapna Sundari, Vanisree Jai Rama Rao, Swati Somnath and Alekhya Punjala, and has performed in all parts of India and abroad, including Turkey, China, Thailand, Japan and Belgrade.
