Amodini, the only child of a rich zamindar (landlord), is to be married to the son of a rival zamindar. But to avenge family rivalry, the groom does not turn up at the marriage. To save Amodini from becoming 'Lognabhrastha' (stigmatized), she is married to Pundu, a young servant in the house. Amodini swears not to let him enter either her room or her life.
A humiliated Pundu goes to Calcutta and makes a fortune. Pundu now refuses to accept Amodini. It is Amodini's turn to feel humiliated and she goes to Pundu's house one day and beats Rashmoni, Pundu's second wife. But things change very soon. Pundu is surprised to see Amodini and Rashmoni embracing each other.
