In commemoration of the centenary of Indian Cinema, Srishti Films is paying tributes to personalities from Telugu cinema, over 25 weeks. Each tribute includes a documentary on the respective personality, along with a talk where possible. The event is being conducted by Srishti Films, and presented by Saichand Tripuraneni, BNIM and Anil Atluri.
L V Prasad had the rare distinction of acting in the first ever talkie films of Hindi (Alam Ara), Telugu (Bhakta Prahlada) and Tamil (Kalidas). He went on to achieve lots more, and today, he is known as the founding father of the south Indian film industry.
L V Prasad was originally He was Akkineni Lakshmi Vara Prasada Rao. He was an Indian film producer, actor, director, cinematographer and businessman. He was one of the pioneers of Indian cinema, and is the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award for films in India.
