This is the 138th show, in the 25th year of the program. Just touch Akbar Agha,
the organizer, and he'll go on and on about the show, his guests across the
years, his photo albums, how he got Usha Uthup for a bargain, and how the one-way
air fares to be paid to artists have increased.
Bhoole Bisre Geet, as the name indicates, is a program of the black and white
era songs. Every 4th or 5th show has a special guest, and you got to give it
to Agha that the list of persons who've graced this show looks impressive. Meenakshi
Seshadri, S P Balasubrahmaniam, Jagdeep, Azharuddin, Biswajeet, Chitra... not
bad, huh? Zeba, the guest of today's show, is the daughter of Meena Khazi, a
poetess and beauty queen of the yesteryears.
Agha also claims that just about every reputed artist of Hyderabad, including
ones like Vijayalakshmi and Deepadhar (now not to sound disrespectful, but do
you know these?), has sung on Bhoole Bisre Geet. Sheela, Gaffar Tanveer, Mamta,
Yashoda, Ali Abbas, Khan Ather and Md Osman are some of the singers of today's
show.
The show will also have some comic pieces by Habib Khadeer and Hamid Kamaal
(that's the hero of Dhed Matwale). This program is being conducted by the Hyderabad
Young Men's Association, the chief patron of which is M Farookh, the state minister.
