For many in town, this would well be the biggest musical festival of 'em all. Think, and you shall hear!
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great saint Sri Thyagaraja, the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is organising the 160th Aradhanotsavam, from 18th to 20th January. To comemmorate this occasion, traditional music kacheris and seminars will be staged during the 3-day fest, as below:
18th January
09:00am - Pooja at Thyagaraja's statue at Tank Bund
10:30am - Inauguration of music fest at NTR auditorium, Telugu University
11:00am - Speeches by chief guest Sabita Indrasena Reddy, State Minister for mines and geology; Dr A Manjulatha, Vice-Chancellor of Telugu University; and Mahomahopadyaya Dr Nookala Chinnasatyanarayana
02:00pm - Carnatic vocal concert by junior students of Telugu University
03:00pm - Violin solo by K Prasanna Kumari
03:30pm - Carnatic vocal concert by senior students of Telugu University
04:30pm - Carnatic vocal by Hemavathy
05:00pm - Veena by K Subhashini Sastry
05:30pm - Vocal by Neeta Chandrashekar
06:00pm - Vocal by Dr Yella Venkateshwar Rao
19th January
10:30am - Inauguration of 1st part of national seminar on Sri Thyagaraya by N Ramesh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Finance, AP Government (chief guest Dr A Manjulatha and president Ayyagari Shyamsunder, retd. Principal of Government College of Music)

1. Ramayana in Thyagaraya's keertanas, by Mulukutla Brahmananda Sastry of Tenali
2. Effects of present and past Vaggeyakaras on Thyagaraya, by Mangalagiri Prameela Devi of Hyderabad
