The St. Paul's Table Tennis Academy is organizing the 10th Annual State Ranking Open Table Tennis Tournament, at St. Paul's High School in Hyderguda, from 3rd to 6th July. Matches will be held in the knockout format in different categories, including Under-12 cadet boys and girls, Under-14 sub-junior boys and girls, Under-17 junior boys and girls, 18-21 years youth boys and girls, and men and women. A total of 748 players are participating in this tournament.
The top seeds are: men's category G Jitendra Kumar, women's category K Bhavana, youth boys G Vishal Reddy, youth girls Nikhat Banu, junior boys T Sai Praneeth, junior girls Nikhat Banu, sub-junior boys Arsh Agarwal, sub-junior girls K Harshitha, cadet boys S K Sharuk Akram, and cadet girls S K Saira Banu.
The tournament is in its 10th year, and is the biggest table tennis tournament in the twin cities. In addition to the rolling trophies, goodies like trekking bags for schools, bicycles to cadets, playing kits to sub-juniors, trekking bags/suitcases for juniors and youth, and color televisions / digital cameras for men and women will be given to the winners. Special prizes will also be given to the losing quarterfinalists, semifinalists and finalists, and best players.
St. Paul's Academy has brought recognition to TT in the state, by producing players like G Jitendra and Shubham Sharma, who have represented the country in various international tournaments. National coaches Mohd Ibrahim Khan and P Nagender Reddy also have brought laurels to the state.
