On the occasion of the Devi Navratris, Shilparamam is organising a Carnatic music whistle concert by M Venkata Ramana Reddy, on 12th October. Guruprasad on the keyboard, Ramu on the tabla and Hanumantha Rao on the rhythm pads will provide the instrumental support for the rectial.
Starting with the traditional Vatapi Ganapathim Bhaji in Hamsadhwani, Ramana Reddy will proceed further with Ramadasa's Paluke Bangara Mayana in Ananda Bhairavi ragam; Annamacharya's Nagavulu Nijamani, Tandanana Ahi, Pidikiti Talambralu Pellikuturu, Kondalalo Nelakunna, Bhavamulona Bhashyamulandunu, Adigo Alladigo, Brahmamu Kadigina Padamu and Jagadapu Janavula Jajara; Ghantasala's Namo Venkatesha and Thiru Venkatadeesa Jagadeesa, and a folk song - Chiduta Navvula Vadu Sinnaka.
Venkata Ramana Reddy completed his P G Diploma in Carnatic Vocal from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, in 1994. Since then, influenced by Eelapaata Raghuramaiah, he has been rigorously practising the art of whistling. He has performed at Pune, Lucknow and Calicut, and at many venues in Hyderabad. He has been part of R P Patnaik's latest music album, too. Currently, he is a Carnatic vocal instructor at the Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Hyderabad.
