Goethe-Zentrum, in association with the University Of Hyderabad and Alliance Francaise, is presenting a Sexual Awareness Project from 1st to 7th December, on the occasion of World Aids Day. As part of the event, 2 movies, 'Les Temoins' (The Witness) and 'She Write', will be screened on 5th December. The films deals with AIDS and sexualities/identities respectively, and will be followed by an interactive discussion with AIDS-specialist Asima Jena.
The 1st film, She Write, will be screened at 5:00pm. Directed by Anjali Monteiro and K P Jayashankar, the film weaves together the narratives of 4 Tamil women poets, who, through their works, try to redefine the space allotted to women. In doing so, they explore patriarchy, themes such as desire and sexuality, and celebrate their bodies.
The film traverses diverse modes of resistance, through images and sounds that evoke the universal experiences of pain, anger, desire and transcendence. It has been awarded the price Best Documentary, IV Festival Internacional del documental Tres Continentes, in Venezuela, and The First Technical Award for Sound Design and The Second Technical Award for Cinematography.
Entry is free. Please contact Goethe Zentrum, at 6552-6443/2324-1791 for further details.
