Three college students from a distant suburb of Bombay, Sunny, Akshay and Rajat, have set their main objective in life as going to America. Their entire time is spent thinking about that country and life there.
Sunny comes from a modestly rich family but has a stormy relationship with his father. He is an expert on America. He is the leader and is always one step ahead of Akshay and Rajat. He would rather use his intelligence plotting and scheming about ways to go to America, than spending time on his studies.
Akshay is a mediocre student who realizes that for him it is impossible to make it to America for further studies. His parents want him to join their small family business. But he wants to go to America as an escape from his humdrum future as steel scrap trader. He relies on Sunny and his feelings border on adulation when it comes to Sunny's knowledge about America.
Rajat is a rebel without a cause. He is angry with everything. His father works for the BMC. He can't get a scholarship on his lowly grades, and neither can his father afford to pay. He can probably expect to finish college and get a small time job. So he has no choice but to go along with Sunny on his schemes.
Sunny leads Akshay and Rajat to numerous hilarious situations with his schemes to go to America. Needless to say, they all fail miserably. Ultimately, he gets a visitors' visa and gets there promising Akshay and Rajat that he would get them also there in no time.
Time goes by, and there is no news from Sunny. Akshay and Rajat feel that he's ditched them. Then one day he suddenly reappears.
