REVIEW FOR LES TEMOINS - FRENCH FILM BY ANDRE TECHINE
Goethe-Zentrum, in association with the University Of Hyderabad and Alliance Francaise, is presenting a Sexual Awareness Project from 1st to 7th December, on the occasion of World Aids Day. As part of the event, 2 movies, 'Les Temoins' (The Witness) and 'She Write', will be screened on 5th December. The films deals with AIDS and sexualities/identities respectively, and will be followed by an interactive discussion with AIDS-specialist Asima Jena.
The 2nd film, Les Temoins, will be screened at 6:00pm. Directed by Andre Techine, Les Témoins is the story of a group disrupted by the arrival of 2 outsiders: Manu and AIDS. The film talks of the arrival of the disease and the hysteria it provoked back in 1984 is well-integrated into the film.
Manu arrives in Paris in 1984. He meets a doctor in a cruising spot and the 2 begin a platonic affair. Proud of his new friend, the doctor takes Manu to see his friends in the south of France. It doesn’t take long for Manu’s arrival in the circle of friends to change the relationships between them all.
Entry is free. Please contact Goethe Zentrum, at 6552-6443/2324-1791 for further details.
