On the occasion of the 81st birth anniversary of film personality Gummadi Venkateshwara Rao, Kinnera Art Theatres is felicitating movie actor Padmanabham and theater actor Vijayalakshmi, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium, on 28th June.
Padmanabham is a 76-year-old veteran comedy actor who has acted in more than 400 films. Vijayalakshmi is a renowned theater artiste who has given various performances in mythological stage dramas. Both the personalities will be felicitated with a memento and a cash award of Rs. 10,000 each.
As a tribute to the grand old man of Telugu cinema for completing 81 glorious years, Kinnera will be screening a few clippings of characters from movies he had acted. A musical nite of songs on Gummadi and Padmanabham's movies will be organised by Amani and party.
Gummadi Venkateshwara Rao was born on 9th July, 1927. A recipient of the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Gummadi has had an acting career extend from 1950 onwards, with more than 500 films to his credit spanning about six decades. His debut film was Adrushta Deepam in 1950. He has worked with three generations of people in the film industry. A versatile character actor in socio-political and mythological movies, he mostly played dignified characters of relatively elderly people.
