Acting Workshop For Theater, Television And Films: Events in Hyderabad

Sutradhar, a premier school of acting in the city, is conducting a 2-month acting
workshop for people (aged 15 to 50 years) who are interested in theater, television
and films. The prerequisite for participation is good communication skills in
Hindi, English and Telugu.

The course offers lessons on body language, gestures, postures, miming etc. It also includes observation, imagination, voice, speech, emotion and sense memory exercises. The highlight this year would be the raja-yoga and meditation conducted by the Bramhakumaris.

The participants would be taught how to enhance their acting skills using their body, mind and voice. They will also learn about the difference between acting in front of a live audience and that in front of a camera. On the closing day of the workshop, the students will present an in-house theater production that will be created by them alone. The choosing/writing of the script, casting, direction, stage management, production execution, set designing, costume designing, lighting arrangements, music and make-up, and, of course, the acting will all be done by the participants.

The instructors at the workshop include famous actors and directors like Bhaskar Shewalkar and Vinay Varma. There will be theater personalities both from Mumbai and from the city.

Bhaskar Shewalkar, Professor Of Theater Arts (Retd.) at the S N School Of Performing Arts, Central University Of Hyderabad, has over 40 years of experience in directing plays. He has directed over 100 plays in Hindi, English, Marathi, Telugu and Urdu. Vinay Varma is a famous dubbing artist, theater and film actor. He lends his voice regularly to Hindi and English corporate films, documentaries, ad-films etc. He has featured in films like "16 December" and a Hollywood film "Beeper". He recently signed a contract to play an important character in a production by Applause Entertainment Media Pvt. Ltd.

Upon completion of the workshop, Sutradhar will provide assistance to the participants for opportunities in films, documentaries, TV, ad films etc.
