Sifar is presenting its new production, a Hindi play titled Zoo Story, on 4th April, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. The play has been directed by Bhavani, and the cast includes Narayan and Feroze.
Zoo Story details what happens when a stranger enters the life of another stranger and their lives change forever. One is a middle-class executive with a family and a settled life, who lives in ignorance of the world outside. The other is a lonely and disheartedned man who years to talk to another human being. The two meet on a park bench, with the latter telling the former stories from his life, including one on why he went to the zoo.
Elements of ironic humor and dramatic suspense are brought to a climax when one of them brings the other to his own savage level. The play was originally written in English by Edward Albee, and has been adapted in Hindi by Feroze and Bhavani.
Sifar is a theatre group started in 2008 by theatre enthusiasts based in Hyderabad, to entertain underprivileged children by performing plays for them. The group regularly performs plays for the Children's Home For Boys, and the Observation Home For Boys. The first public performance was Round & Round & Round, a monologue based on Nirmal Verma's Dedh Inch Upar, in June 2009; followed by one more monologue, Ripple Of Stillness, in December 2009. Manoranjan Tax Free is its third production.
