Xpressions - A Painting Exhibition At Daira

Paintings and more paintings - this season just does not seem to get enough of them. Xpressions is an art exhibition by two artists who express two completely different things on canvas.

Ashish Das, nominated for the Common Wealth scholarship in UK (2001), has been painting for four years. He feels that his paintings are the expressions of the present day society, and the economic and social conditions prevelant today. He draws inspiration from Indian paintings.

A recipient of the Merit Scholarship (1995-2000) of the Vishwa Bharati University, Kuntal Dey has held exhibitions at the Alternative Art Gallery, Kolkata and at the Dhumimal Art Gallery, Delhi 2001. His paintings reflect fleeting moments of his life, specially his childhood. He has no particular style of painting and likes to experiment.
