You were there for the Chaurasia concert, and are hungering for more. Or you are still cursing yourself for having missed an opportunity to hear some great flute recital there. But life is a great rejoinder - here's another opportunity, and the variety of another stalwart of this wind instrument.
Flutist Dr. N Ramani is a prime disciple of the popular flutist late T R Mahalingam (Mali). Dr Ramani gave his first concert at the age of eleven, and in a career spanning decades, has been awarded titles like 'Sangeetha Kalanidhi' and 'Isai Perarignar' for his outstanding performance in this field. He has to his credit a large number of audiocassettes and CDs, and is famous for his performances across the world. He runs the Ramani's Academy, where he handles flute classes for senior level students.
Here on the 8th, he will be performing a flute recital on the occasion of SICA's 41st annual festival of music and dance, and will be accompanied by S D Sridhar on the violin, Tiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam on the mridangam and E M Subramanyam on the ghatam.
