Can trees convey expressions? Not if they belong to the Uday Kiran genre of wood, and these ones luckily don't. They belong to the Shankar genre of paintings, instead.
The Andhra Mahila Sabha is organizing an 8-day exhibition of paintings called 'Vriksha - A Saga of Trees' by Kolkala-based artist S Shankar. The exhibition is being organized by the Literacy House of the Sabha to promote their Art School For Children, which will start soon. Shankar will conduct art classes in the new school and will be a visiting faculty member.
Shankar is basically a freelance portrait painter, but also has knowledge of photography and the arts. He is currently a consultant and also on the visiting faculty for Wondertoons 2D animation studio. The Kolkata Doordarshan has made a short film on his works on the theme 'Trees' recently.
Shankar has displayed his work in many galleries in Bangalore, Chennai, Jamshedpur and other places in the country. This will be his first exhibition in Hyderabad. These paintings will be mostly figurative.
