Jayaprada Rama Murthy and her group will welcome the New Year with a flute recital at Anand Nagar Community Hall, at 6pm on the 1st of Januray 2013. The program is being organised by Sangeetha Ksheera Sagaram, Vigyana Samithy, Vijaya Nagar Fine Arts, Sujana Ranjani, Sri Alamelu Manga Sarvayya Charitable Trust, Neelambari Sapthaparni, Trividya Peetham And Dr. Anuradha Srinivas.
Jayaprada Ramamurthy is a renowned classical flutist hailing from Hyderabad. She is the daughter of the well-known guru Prema Ramamurthy and O V Ramamurthy (BARC-NFC).
A self-taught flutist and self-made musician, Jayaprada received advanced musical guidance from her mother, and from veterans including Dr. N Ramani, B R C Iyenger & Sudarsanacharya. She was inspired to take up playing the base flute by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, during her occasional interactions with Panditji in Bangladesh and India.
She has toured the world over, performed in front of many dignitaries, including the President Of India, and is, quite naturally, the recipient of many prestigious awards, some of them being for the Best Performer at the Spirit Of Youth festival, Chennai; the T R Mahalingam Flute Endowment Award, Chennai; and the Best Girl Flautist award in Hyderabad.
