Among the few things that we Hyderabadis still can't do is replace lost ozone. And nothing should stop us from getting that message across.
The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) is organizing a series of programs to create environmental awareness among school children, youth, women, NGOs and government officials on the event of the World Environment Day on June 5.
The programs for children will be conducted in association with the Jawahar Bal Bhavan on June 1 in the Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium. There will be competitions which include a mock eco-Parliament, a painting competition, a slogan-writing competition, a group dance, group singing and dumb charades, all based on environmental themes.
The Deccan Development Society will conduct a dance-drama competition for youth and women groups in the Jubilee Hall on June 3. The Forum For A Better Hyderabad will organize a session on water bodies and vehicular pollution in the Jubilee Hall on June 4. And this will be followed by a panel discussion and the finalization of the youth and women's charter on environmental issues. The final version of the charter will be presented to the Chief Minister on June 5, in the concluding day's function.
To mark The World Environment Day, a cycle rally will be held at the Public Gardens. All those interested in taking part in any of the above programs will have to register their names over phone at 373-7625. Please contact 375-4973 for further details.
