The Hyderabad Film Club, in collaboration with the Hyderabad Korean Residents Association, and the Korean Consulate (Mumbai), is organizing a Korean film festival from 26th to 28th December, at the Prasad Labs Preview Theatre. On 28th December, the Club is screening The Running Boy at 5pm.
The film is about Cho Won, an autistic man with a liking for chocolate cookies and zebras, who has the intelligence of a 5-year old boy even at the age of 20. When his mother discovers his love for running, she begins to train him for a 'Sub 3 Hour' marathon, the completion of which is a dream for amateur runners.
Cho Won's mother begs Jung Woo, a former marathon champion who comes to do community service at Cho Won's school, to coach her son. Unwilling at first, he learns to open his heart to Cho Won as they spend more time together and sees the possibility of winning. Amid heated arguments, Jung Woo tells Cho Won's mother that she is obsessed with the whole idea, and makes her realize that she has been pushing her son only to shield herself from reality. Consequently, she decides not to let him run any more.
The Running Boy is 115 minutes long, and was directed by Jeong Yoon-cheol. The film stars Jo Seung-woo, Kim Mi-sook, Lee Gi-Young, Back Sung-Hyun and Ahn Nae-Sang.
