The Exhibition Society brings to Hyderabad the 72nd Numaish, or the All-India Industrial Exhibition, from 1 January to 15 Febuary, at the Exhibition Grounds.
Started in 1938 with just 100 stalls, the All-India Industrial Exhibition was a local exhibition originally intended to display indigenously produced goods in the erstwhile Hyderabad state. Today, it has come to be recognized as one of the biggest displays in the country for trade, commerce and industry, with participants from all over the country, and some international bodies.
Featured entertainment includes a mini-train, the ferris wheel, and other joy rides.
Food courts serving chaat, pav bhajis, piping hot mirchi bajjis and alu bajjis and vadas, and Chinese fast food, have been set up for the perennial nibblers. For the sweet-toothed, there are also sweet and ice-cream stalls.
Entry charges are just Rs. 10 per head, and these support the activities of the Exhibition Society, including the management of 18 educational institutions that serve over 35,000 students of Hyderabad and the surrounding districts.
