Andhra Balananda Sangham is conducting its Annual Theatre Festival Competitions - 2008 at their premises. The competitions will be held on Sundays, starting from 16th Nov '08, upto 25th Jan '09. The prizes will be awarded on the anniversary of the Sangham, in February '09.
As part of the festival, the Sangham is conducting a competition in Spot Painting for juniors and sub-juniors. The topic for will be anounced 1 hour begore the slated time, i.e., at 12:30pm. The event starts at 1:30pm at the 1st floor of the Balanandam. Only paper will be supplied, and participants should should bring colouring material with them.
Children are divided into 3 categories, based on their age and their class:
Tiny Tots: Nursery, LKG, UKG, Class 1
Sub-juniors: Classes 2, 3, 4, 5
Juniors : Classes 6, 7, 8, 9
Prize winners must submit proof of any form, stating their class. The entry fee is neither refundable nor transferable. Dates and timings are subject to change. Judges' decision will be final, and any discussion with them, regarding judgement, is not allowed.
Started with an intention to guarantee unadulterated children's entertainment, Balanandam, founded in 1940, was the dream mission of Radio Annayya, and his wife, Akkayya. During the span of their lifetime, Andhra Balananda Sangham was the venue where an informal and free ambience nourished young talent and produced numerous high achievers in the field of film direction, music and theater.
Here, regular classes are conducted in Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, and drawing and painting. The organisation also conducts summer camps to impart training to children in handicrafts, light music, drama and folk dance, and there are celebrations during festivals.
