REVIEW FOR SHANKAR'S CARICATURES
Alankritha is presenting an exhibition of caricatures by Shankar Pamarthy. The show will be inaugurated on the 20th of June at 6pm by Ramakrishna Reddy (Editorial Director, Sakshi), with Murali (Editor, Sakshi Daily), Venumadhav (Actor) and B Raja Sekhar (CEO, Arena) as guests of honour. The exhibition is on till the 6th of July, everyday from 11am to 7pm.
Shankar was born in 1968 in Andhra Pradesh, and has been drawing since childhood. Currently a political cartoonist in a Telugu daily in Hyderabad, he has drawn about 1,000 caricatures of prominent people and politicians, and has recently made a 3 minute-long political cartoon animation.
Shankar's achievements include the 3rd prize in the Hindustan Times Caricature Contest (2000), a special honor prize in the 3rd I M International Cartoon Competition (China), the first prize at the Tabriz International Cartoon Contest (2005, Iran), and the Mayakamath Memorial Award For Excellence In Cartooning (2008).
