The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club and the French Embassy in India, is screening a French film, "Santa Is A Stinker" (Le Pere Noel est une ordure) on 11th January at the Sarathi Studios, Ameerpet.
Le Pere Noel est une ordure (Father Christmas is a bastard) was a theatre play created in 1979 by the troupe Le Splendid that turned into a film (Santa Is A Stinker) directed by Jean-Marie Poire in 1982. The cast includes Anemone, Thierry Lhermitte, Marie-Anne Chazel, Gerard Jugnot, Christian Clavier and Josiane Balasko.
Pierre and Therese, 2 stuffy well-to-do volunteers at a telephone helpline for lonely and depressed people, are stuck with the Christmas Eve shift in the Paris office, much to their displeasure. The building's lift is malfunctioning, and they receive visits from unwanted callers: Katia, a depressed transvestite who wants to hit on Pierre, and Josette, a heavily pregnant woman on the run from her husband Felix.
Felix is working as a Santa Claus during the season and turns up on her trail in costume, and brandishing a gun. Felix and Josette, a caricature trailer trash couple, end up struggling over the gun and accidentally shooting dead the lift repairman, whom they then butcher and feed to zoo animals.
Entry is free. Please contact the Alliance Francaise at 2770-0734/2770-0736 or Bh S S Prakash Reddy of the Hyderabad Film Club at 2373-0841/93910-20243 for further details.
