Aradhana is awarding the S V Ranga Rao Memorial Award to actor Krishnam Raju, at the Ravindra Bharathi on 16th July. On this occasion, Krishnam Raju will be presented with a Swarna Kankanam along with the award.
Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju, better known as Rebel Star Krishnam Raju in the film industry, entered the industry with Chilaka Gorinka in 1966, and did over 182 films in a career spanning over 40 years. During his days in the industry, he made an image of his own by delivering hits like Bhakta Kannappa, Tandra Papa Rayudu, Amara Deepam, Bobbili Brahmanna, Katakatala Rudrayya, Rangoon Rowdy, Guvvala Janta and Manavuri Pandavulu. He was also the Union Minister of State for External Affairs in the BJP Government at the Centre.
Movie clips of Late S V Ranga Rao and Krishnam Raju will be shown on screen at the event, which will be followed by a one-act play on Duryodhana by Master Kaushik. The chief guest for the evening is Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, State Minister for Transport. The other specially invited guests are senior journalist P Vijay Babu, Executive Director of Chalapathi Estates M Amareshwara Rao, grandson of late S V Ranga Rao also named S V Ranga Rao, director of TV serials P V Nageshwara Rao, and personalities from the film industry like directors M S Reddy, Mutyala Subbaiah, P Gopal and Tammareddy Bharadwaj, and actors like Srihari, Srikanth, Prabhas, Brahmanandam, Shivaji, Venkat and Baladitya.
