Laya and Ramya are inseparable friends. Laya has a particular fondness for roses. There is a palatial building near their homes with a garden full of roses but the security guard never allows anyone to enter it. Laya receives an unexpected gift on her birthday - a chance to enter the garden because it is unguarded. Laya is ecstatic but seeing the lady landlord arrive, Ramya alerts Laya and runs out presuming that Laya is following her but Laya, who is lost among the flowers, gets caught. Laya is severely scolded and even called a thief. This incident makes Laya bitter and she is no longer the sensitive child who enjoyed sharing things with Ramya. One day, Laya goes to a nearby village for a school picnic. The farmers there happily offer fruits to the children. She even happens to meet a village boy who offers her a bunch of yellow roses. These incidents of unexpected benevolence melt Laya's heart and she embraces her close friend Ramya.
The 14th Golden Elephant screening of Roses will be its world premiere.
