REVIEW FOR RAGHU DIXIT AT VASAVI

On the occasion of Euphoria 2008, the annual cultural festival of Vasavi College of Engineering from 14th to 16th March, 3 famous Indian music bands, Euphoria, Bandish Projekt and Raghu Dixit Project, will be performing.

Today, the last day, Raghu Dixit and his band will be performing some crowd favourites such as Mysore Se Aayi, Mumbai, Antaragni, Hey Bhagwan, Har Saans Mein and Gudugudiya.

The Raghu Dixit Project, founded by Raghu Dixit, is an open house for musicians and artistes from different genres to come together, collaborate and create a dynamic sound and expression. Though a gold medalist in Masters in Microbiology and a proficient Indian classical dancer (Vidwat in Bharatanatyam), Raghupathy Dixit is now known more as a self-taught guitarist-singer-composer-song-writer-musician, based in Bangalore. As the founder-frontman of his band Antaragni (started 8 years back), and now of The Raghu Dixit Project, Raghu has performed more than 250 concerts all over India.

Raghu's music is a seamless amalgamation of Indian ethnic music, and styles from different parts of the world. His lyrics, even though a mix of many languages such as Hindi, English, Kannada and Rajasthani, are simple, and speak about every common man's emotions and experiences, thus making his songs extremely popular among his fans. Inserting Indian ethnic folk, Sufi and classical phrases cleverly into his songs, Raghu presents a singing style that can be described as unique at best. His vocal range and versatility have often been appreciated with awe.

The members of the Raghu Dixit band are Raghu with the vocals and guitar, Vijay on the guitar, Jithin on the violin, Siva on the drums and Gaurav Vaz on the bass guitar.
