And bringing some Telangana flavour to this craft fair is this straight-from-the-heart rendition of the Telangana spirit set to lyric and tune.

Under the aegis of the All India Crafts Mela, Shilparamam is presenting a folk songs recital by Arjun Rao on 27th December at 6:30pm. Ganesh on the dappu and Shiva on the dholak will provide the musical support. Arjun will sing some Telangana folk songs like Alallo Neerade Miryalu, Tummarikunta Vando Number Beedilu, and Nagulo Nagulamma.

Arjun Rao hails from Mudigonda, Khammam district. Influenced by revolutionary Telangana poets like Saichand, he sings many folk songs composed by Saichand, whose songs he has been learning to sing for 15 years now. He has been an active member of the Telangana movement for the last 25 years.

Arjun Rao has given performances across the state, and also in Delhi and Punjab. Recently, renowned Tollywood composer Vandemataram Srinivas released an album "Jaya Gaanam", in which Arjun Rao sang some of Srinivas's compositions. Currently, he works as a moulder in the Telugu film industry.
