How many times has a piece of modern art appeared to you no more than a 4-year-old's doodle? Have you ever been left scratching your head trying to decipher an abstract piece fetching a fortune at an art auction? However, with the art-scene in Hyderabad (check our art-beats) going great guns, it ain't cool anymore to stay an art illiterate.
Treasure House comes to the rescue of such art illiterates with their "Art Appreciation For Adults" program from 24th November to 29th December, for the age group of 18 years and above.
The program promises to "demystify" art and give an overall view about world art. The 6-week course includes classes on Indian miniatures, a comparative study of Indian and Western sculpture, and the Hyderabad school of artists. Practicals consist of field trips to an art gallery with the instructor for an analytical study of the art forms in display.
Anyone who has an aptitude for art and the attitude to learn the nuances of art appreciation is eligible to join the program.
The program's instructor is Savita, who holds a masters degree in History of Art, and is a graduate from the University of Washington's Museum Studies program. She has also worked as a curator/director for an art gallery in Seattle.
The fee for both members and non-members is Rs. 2,200 and the timings are 10:30am to 12 noon. Please contact 2355-0118 for further details.
