Sharada Cultural Trust is organising its 20th Annual Cultural Festival Of Music & The 163rd Aradhana Of Sadguru Sri Thyagaraja Swamy, from 30th January to 7th February, at Keyes High School. The 9-day festival will feature several renowned Carnatic musicians from all the country - O S Thyagarajan, Dr. Ganesh, Sudha Raghunathan, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Lalgudi GJR Krishnan & Vijayalakshmi, Nityasree Mahadevan, the Hyderabad Sisters and T V Sankaranarayanan - providing a musical fiesta for the Carnatic music lovers of the twin cities
Sanjay Subrahmaniam will be performing a vocal recital on the 4th day of the festival. Accompanying him are S Varadarajan on the violin and Neyveli B Venkatesh on the mridangam.
Sanjay Subramaniam's introduction to Carnatic music started at the young age of 7, with the violin. He started his training from V Lakshminarayana, until his manual dexterity was impaired by an accident. He took to singing and received his initial training from his grand-aunt, Rukmini Rajagopalan. The training under Calcutta K S Krishnamurthy led to innovations, and a blending of tradition and modernity further sharpened his skills. Sanjay is a graduate in commerce, and a qualified Chartered and Cost Accountant.
Sanjay has performed at Chennai, Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Delhi and other places all over India. He has also toured Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, USA, Canada, UK and Oman. He is an A-grade artiste of the All-India Radio, Madras, and is a regular performer on Doordarshan and Sun TV.
The Sharada Cultural Trust is an all-women voluntary organisation that has been rendering yeomen service for the last 19 years in the field of cultural activities. The programs conducted by the organisation include the annual music festival and Thyagaraja Aradhana, annual music competitions, donation of rice to veda pathashalas, and donating money to the Sri Vidya School For Special Children and the Devnar School For The Blind.
