Jazz By China Moses & Raphael Lemonnier

The Krishnakriti Foundation, as part of its annual art and cultural festival, in association with the Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad and the French Embassy In India, is presenting a jazz performance by China Moses & Raphael Lemonnier, on 9th January, at the Marriott Hotel.



The duo will be performing hit numbers from their latest album This One's For Dinah. Members of the band include China Moses with the vocals, Raphael Lemonnier on the piano, Anne Paceo on the drums and Fabien Marco on the bass.



China Moses, daughter of the jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, started her career at the ultra cool French label 'Source' and collaborated with the cream of the French scene (Camille, Etiene De Crecy, Diams, DJ Mehdi and Jean among others). She then collaborated with the band Gabin in their second album "Mr. Freedom". Her fourth album is in English, in collaboration with her favourite band members (DJ Mehdi, Karriem Riggins, Wayne Beckford, Anthony Marshall, La Caution).



The career of pianist Raphael Lemonnier has been focused more on jazz. He made his debut with the Nimes Big Band under the direction of Jeff Gilson and later, Roger Guerin. Extensively involved in France's jazz scene, he performed with Liz Newton at numerous events: the Tangier Jazz Festival, The Village Gate, Jazz in Montauban and the 24 Hours of Swing festival in Monsegur.



The Krishnakriti Art And Culture Festival is organised every year by the Lahoti Foundation, which was established by Prashant Lahoti in memory of his father Krishnachandra B Lahoti. On this occasion, art camps are organised by eminent artists and the works are auctioned off at the end of the festival. The proceeds from the sales go to the Krishnachandra B Lahoti Scholarship, which sponsors holistic education for deserving and needy students. Last year's proceeds have supported 70 children.
