Museums are not for everyone. So to get the Hyderabadi junta to visit the treasures at the State Museum, the management has introduced a whole new exhibit that is designed to appeal to even the hardiest art novice. Porcelain in all its gorgeously fragile detail is the theme for this show. Just remember to leave your pet bull at home. And your hyperactive three-year-old might have to be handcuffed.
These priceless figurines have been rescued from the jaws of time by many a keen curator, and now they perch, in their myriad forms - flowers, plants, human - on the State Museum shelves. Apart from porcelain, there are also clay plates, jugs and other remains of an ancient feast. Sounds like a pleasant stroll, even if it does provide avenues for education.
