Anveshi Research Centre for Women's Invites you to a panel discussion on "Feminism and Politics of Gender: A Matter of Choice?"
Choice, freedom, rights and empowerment have become the buzzwords in discussions around feminism, gender and sexuality. Worse still feminism is being discussed as something that 'feminists' do or say. This wholesale individualization of complex historical process seems to fit snugly into the mainstream discourse around gender and sexuality. When they are redrawn in liberal vocabulary critical questions of context, culture, history, collective thinking and action get erased. As a result questions of caste, religion, sexuality, gender, state begin to appear disconnected and dispersed. It is to these that the panel discussion directs our attention to.
