Chaitanya Art Theatres, in association with the Department Of Culture, is presenting a Kuchipudi dance ballet called Pancha Kavya, on 10th May, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. Pancha Kavya is a combination of sweet lyrics and crisp dialogues in chaste Telugu interweaved with select excerpts from the writings of five of Telugu language's great writers, including Manucharitra by Allasani Peddana, Parijaathapaharanam by Nandi Thimmana, Vasucharitra by Ramarajabhushana and Pandurangamahatyam by Tenali Ramakrishna under the patronage of Sri Krishna Devaraya.
The ballet is written by Dr. Rallabandi Kavita Prasad, poet and Director of the Department Of Culture. The music direction is by D S Sastry, and the vocals are by V Ramakrishna, D S Sastry, Nitya Santoshini and Sasikala. Technical assistance is being provided by M V Nageshwara Rao (Chanti), the make-up is by M V Someshwara Rao and Varma, and the lighting is by Surabhi Purnachandra Rao and Kishore.
The dancers participating in this ballet are Manju Bhargavi of Shankarabharanam fame, and Kalakrishna (Andhra Natyam dancer), Ajay Kumar and K V Satyanarayana of Sruthilayalu, Swarna Kamalam, Sutradharulu and Swathi Kiranam fame, along with 20 other dancers. The script has been choreographed into the dance form by K V Satyanarayana.
The chief guest for the ballet is Dr. Vara Prasada Reddy, Chairman of Shantha Bio-Technics Limited. IPS officers B R Mallela and K V Ramana are the other guests for the evening.
