Sutradhar will present 'Paagal Ghar', its 22nd workshop production, on 19th February at Lamakaan, Road No. 1, Banjara Hills. The play is written by Dr. Nand Kishore Acharya and directed by Rakesh Raj.
Paagal Ghar is the story of a writer who's being trailed by the system simply because he reads 'Murder In The Cathedral' and 'Crime And Punishment', books that are considered blasphemous. A leader, representing the system, uses two other tools - police and health - to declare the writer a 'paagal' (mad). Little do the leader and police realize that they are mad themselves, obsessed with their status and their so-called duties.
The play becomes relevant in the light of what is happening to Dr. Binayak Sen. What is freedom of expression? How far can one go? Does writing against the establishment tantamount to sedition? Can even reading literature with "hostile, unfriendly" titles make one a traitor? Paagal Ghar doesn't try to answer these questions, but raises a few more...
The play starts at 7:30pm and its duration is 100 minutes. Entry tickets are priced at Rs. 100 per head. Please contact Vinay Verma at 98480-52541 for further details.
