The Rock Street Journal (RSJ), in association with Seagram's Fuel, is presenting the Great Indian Rock Festival in 7 of India's most prominent cities, namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Shillong, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Hyderabad's leg is being performed at 2 venues - Soul Club on 13th November, and Bottles & Chimney on 14th November.
Native Tongue will be performing at Bottles & Chimney on the last day. Native Tongue is a Hyderabadi Garage Rock/ Power band, consisting of Baba with the bass and vocals, Joel with the vocals and drums & Benhur on the guitar. The band won the Hyderabad finals of the Pepsi Hero Honda Campus Rock Idols Contest in 2004. The influences of the band include Green Day, Steely Dan, The Killers, Dire Straits, Van Halen, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix, Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Parker, John Mayer and Mr. Big.
The Great Indian Rock Festival aims to cement its place as the biggest rock festival in India. The talent search that the festival generates encompasses the entire nation, and entries have poured in from all over the country. It is the largest platform for bands in India to express themselves and also get a chance to share the stage with prominent international bands. This year, international bands, including Satyricon, Sahg and Freak Kitchen, will perform alongside 12 Indian bands. 1 lucky band will be selected to play at a major festival abroad.
