The Andhra Pradesh Motor Sports Club is organising a National Drag Race on 18th January, on the grounds beside the Haj Terminal at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Called the Deccan 1/4 Mile Drag Race, this will be the first time in the twin cities that audiences will get a glimpse of high-end cars and bikes racing down the tarmac.
Over 120 teams from all over the country will participate in this competition, a rage in USA. Participating vehicles are classified on the basis of engine capacity, frame type, vehicle construction materials, wheel base, and the number of cylinders. Cars will also be sorted out for add-ons, including turbochargers, superchargers and nitrous oxide cylinders. In all, there will be 30 categories for cars and bikes. Audience will also have a chance to see foreign cars in full action, for which there is a separate category, as also for modified cars.
Drag racing is a competition where two vehicles race against each other for over 1,000 feet to get to the finish line in the shortest possible time. The sport actually involves cars, but the Hyderabad edition will also feature 2-wheelers.
Entry is free for everyone. Please contact Srikanth Araza, Secretary of AP Motor Sports Club, at 98490-85445 for further details.
