The V Rangamani Chariar Arts Academy is organising a unique musical nite called Raagamalikalo Cine, Lalitha, Padyala Sangeeta Sammelanam, on 3rd March, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. Designed and composed by V L N Chariar, the nite will be based on a particular raagam of Carnatic music which will be sung in three ways - as a movie song, as a light music song and finally as a padyam (prose).
Several renowned singers, both professionals and semi-professionals, such as K Venkat Rao, B Haricharan, Amani, M Prasanna Lakshmi, V Kanaka Durga and Deepti, will participate in this nite. The orchestra will be headed by Brahmanandam and Satyadev on the keyboard, Kota Acchibabu on the clarinet, Phani on the pads, and Ramu and Nagaraj on the tabla.
The V Rangamani Chariar Arts Academy was established in April of 2007 by V L N Chariar, a 75-year-old music composer, singer and anchor, in memory of his late wife Vangipuram Rangamani. V L N Chariar is a well-known personality in cultural circles. He has been in this field since 1952, and has been conferred upon the title of Raaga Visleshana Visharada by Dr C Narayana Reddy in 2002 for completing 50 years of music composing.
