Rolling Stone is saluting some of the biggest legends of rock music, and some of the saluting is happening in your city.
The Rolling Stones is presenting Legends Of Rock - Tribute To Nirvana, at the Hard Rock Cafe, on 23rd September. "Legends Of Rock" is Rolling Stone's endeavor to bring star musicians from Indian bands to collaborate on tribute concerts to some of the biggest legends of rock.
Tonight's performance consists of Luke Kenny on the vocals, Vinayak Pol (of the band Medusa) on the drums, Denzil Mathias on the guitar and Dibyajyoti Nath on the bass.
Luke Kenny is an Indian ex-video jockey, critic, musician, director, producer and actor. He started as a DJ in 1993, and, in 1995, he became India's first Indian male VJ on Channel [V]. He also performed a small role in Kaizad Gustad's movie, Bombay Boys, playing the leader of a rock band. In 1998, he became the head of music programming and artist relations for Channel [V], a post he held until 2008. He recently signed on as contributing editor for Rolling Stone India, writing a column called LukeBox, and a live music column called Gig-A-Bites.
Vinayak Pol is a frontline drummer for Medusa, a rock band from Mumbai. He has been with the band since 2005.
Denzil Mathias is a 30-year old guitarist from Mumbai who has been playing the instrument for the past 16 years. Dibyajyoti Nath is a bassist from Tripura, who has been an active part of several local bands of Eastern India.
