The Laser National sailing championships, the biggest yachting event in the country, will be held at the Hussain Sagar from July 12 to 19. Into its 30th edition, the regatta will be jointly hosted and organised by the Laser Class Association of India (LCAI), the EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and Secunderabad Club under the aegis of the Yachting Association of India (YAI).
Competitions, governed by rules of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA), will be held in the Laser Standard, Radial and 4.7 youth categories. Boats registered with the LCAI and competitors who are annual/life associate members of YAI and LCAI are eligible to participate.
Foreign participants are also eligible, provided they furnish copies of a) passport, b) certificate of affiliation of their respective member national associations (MNAs) to the ISAF c) ILCAc d) security clearance where necessary.
Age categories
Races will be conducted, subject to a minimum entry of three sailors in each category, with the following age restrictions in place: Standard: a) Open b) youth under 21 and 19 years c) apprentice master (35 -44 years) d) master (45-54 years) e) grand master (55-64 years) f) great grand master (over 65 years).
Radial: Youth under 19 and 17 years and other sections same as in Standard.
Laser 4.7: Under 18 and 16 years. Each sailor must submit a signed guardian consent form and be accompanied by a responsible adult named in the said form.
Entry fees
Each entry made in the prescribed form, accompanied by a fee of Rs. 2000, must reach the EME Sailing Association, c/o MCEME, on or before June 30.
